The Corrosive State of Hate

Writer: scottforbesscottforbes

Hate is a sad and corrosive state, psychologically, physically, and spiritually.  Hate unchecked can consume and push out rational thought and decency, until it is fateful for its practitioners.

We see and hear hate every day on social media, in print, and on the legacy news media shows.  Haters may believe that their behavior is justified, but for the non-haters it’s not rational and often just viewed as evil.

Hate is a negative emotion.  Today, the American Left politically is ruled by their emotions, which has led to organized and coordinated efforts to vandalize Tesla vehicles, dealerships, and superchargers.  They just hate Trump and now Elon Musk.

So why?

My opinion is that too many haters have been living their days in too long a state of hate.  Just consider how many people have outright hated Donald Trump, since his running for President in 2015. That’s 10 years. “Trump Derangement Syndrome” is a real thing.

There have always been hateful people on both sides of the political spectrum. But hate on the Left actually intensified, during the Barack Obama presidency.  The “community organizer” did not bring us together as promised.  We got change, but not a lot of hope or unity.  Instead, he and his Party led a movement to create a hard divide and hate of the conservative right.  They mocked Christians and those living in “fly-over country.”  And, frankly, Universities full of hateful professors didn’t help.

Hate was then fully unleashed in 2016, with the election of Donald Trump.  He became the singular focal point for the hate of the haters.  They tried everything to make him fail.  It didn't stop there, because when they couldn’t impeach Trump or throw him in jail, Trump supporters then became the main object of the haters, for noreason except that they supported Trump.

Over time, it went further, not just supporters of Trump but the systems that gave them voice.  The haters hated free speech.  They hated election deniers.  They hated the unvaccinated.  They hated those who wouldn’t wear masks.  They hated anyone who questioned the science of anything.  They hated those who said that there are only two genders.  They hated those who questioned global warming.  They hated those who wanted border walls.  They hated those who didn’t want children exposed to “drag shows.”  They hated anyone who did not want men being allowed in girls bathrooms or men playing on girls sports teams.  They hated anyone who might dare have an opinion that differed from theirs.

The result was enough people hated to be hated and the haters got exactly what they didn’t want, another four years of President Trump.  Now, they hate Elon Musk, for trying to reduce fraud and waste of government spending, but they applaud destruction of Teslas.  What's nuts is they’re hateful of the guy who found the fraud, but not mad at the people that wasted or even stole our taxpayer money. The haters hate anyone who’s trying to make America better, so much so that they want them all to fail.  If this happens, America becomes far worse off than we are today financially.  America is in debt over $36 trillion and it’s just not enough for these haters.  To them, America in chaos and ruin would be just fine.

Van Jones, a Democrat Party strategist, commented on CNN how his Party continues to be caught between the establishment members and the more far leftist members with no clear path moving forward.  “Listen, the Democratic Party is going through a massive set of internal crises.  You have a party that got trapped two ways.  One, defending a broken status quo that nobody likes because they thought that Donald Trump was going to make it worse.  But when you’re defending the status quo, you’re going to lose.  And then offending most people in the country, calling everybody sexist and racist and transphobic and every other name, and then saying, ‘please follow us.’  That’s not a good strategy, folks.  Defending a broken status quo and offending most of the country, turns out, is not as popular as my party thought it was going to be.  And so it’s going to take a while for people to get it figured out," Jones added.  They’re not off to a good start.  Just look at the haters now running the Democratic National Committee.

The best thing we can do right now is to not hate the haters.  This does not mean we should put up with their hate.  We should feel sorry and pray for them.

Unfortunately, for the good Democrats, their Party is behaving more and more like an insurgency rather than a political party.  Unless the Democrats change what they stand for, and that requires a massive transformation and re-programming of their base, they’ll never win another election. And, that may be the best thing for all Americans, including the haters.
